A hackathon is an event where people come together to learn, collaborate, and build a project from scratch! Over the course of the event, you'll work with a team to turn an idea into a creative solution using technology. You'll also have opportunities to attend workshops, get help from mentors, and meet other like-minded students interested in technology and innovation!
HerHacks is designed to make technology more accessible, especially for beginners. Whether you're an experienced developer or have never written a line of code, you'll have the chance to learn new skills, build something you're proud of, and connect with other like-minded students. Plus, there will be workshops, mentors, prizes, food, and lots of opportunities to have fun!
Teams can have 1–4 members. Teams will not be assigned, and you can form your team before the event or meet new friends once you arrive. You will have time to find teams at the venue or on the Discord at your own pace!
We will use Discord as our main communication platform throughout the hackathon. You'll be able to ask questions, connect with organizers and mentors, receive important announcements, and communicate with your teammates.

You can build almost anything you can imagine! Websites, apps, games, hardware projects, creative tools, and more are all welcome. Your project can be technical, creative, or a combination of both. The goal is to take an idea and turn it into something real.
HerHacks is open to girls in high school and post-secondary students who are interested in exploring technology, regardless of their experience level. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced developer, there's a place for you at HerHacks!
That's completely okay! HerHacks is beginner-friendly and you do not need prior coding experience to participate. We'll have workshops, mentors, and resources to help you get started. You can also contribute through design, research, brainstorming, presentation, project management, and much more. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn!
